When we do walking meditation we step from one minute into the next, leaving the last minute behind and entering this brand-new one with an open heart and mind. We tread gently, we bring absolutely nothing with us. We feel the ground underneath our feet, specifically if we go barefoot. We feel our joints and muscles keeping us poised. Perhaps we know our clothes moving versus our skin, or the touch of the air as we move through it. We walk in consistency with those around us, neither slower nor faster than they. Thoughts might go and come, however we just stroll.
Walking meditation is a gorgeous practice and likewise a fantastic metaphor for moving lightly through life.
